Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Prompt Harvest ("we", "our", or "the extension") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Prompt Harvest Chrome extension. By installing or using the extension, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

Prompt Harvest is a Chrome browser extension published by an individual developer. Contact: nswaby64@gmail.com

2. What Data We Collect

Anonymous User ID	A randomly generated UUID created on first install. Contains no personal information. Used solely to enforce the monthly free-tier extraction limit.	Locally in Chrome storage only

YouTube transcript text	When you click "Harvest Prompts", the transcript of the currently open YouTube video is read from the page DOM and transmitted to our proxy server for AI processing. Extracted prompts & history	Prompts extracted from videos are saved locally in your browser so you can review them later. We have no access to this data.	Locally in Chrome storage only

3. What Data We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, address, or any personally identifiable information
• Your browsing history or activity on any website other than the active YouTube tab
• Payment or financial information (payments are handled entirely by Stripe)
• Passwords, authentication credentials, or cookies
• Any data from YouTube pages you visit without clicking "Harvest Prompts"

4. How We Use Your Data

• Transcript text — sent to our proxy server and then to the Anthropic Claude API solely to extract AI prompts. It is not logged, stored, or used for any other purpose.
• Anonymous user ID & usage count — used to track and enforce the 5 extractions/month free-tier limit per user.
• Pro subscriber email — used only to verify whether an active paid Stripe subscription exists for that email address. It is not used for marketing.
• Local prompt history — stored in your browser for your own convenience. We cannot access it.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any party for advertising or marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

• Transcript text — retained for the duration of a single API request only (seconds). Deleted immediately after a response is returned. Never written to disk or a database.
• Anonymous user ID & monthly usage count — stored on our proxy server and reset at the start of each calendar month. Records older than 90 days are automatically purged.
• Pro subscriber email — retained on our server only for as long as an active subscription exists. Deleted within 30 days of subscription cancellation.
• Local browser data — stored indefinitely in your browser until you clear it via the extension's "Clear" button or uninstall the extension.

7. Data Security

All data transmitted between the extension, our proxy server, and Anthropic is encrypted in transit using TLS (HTTPS). Our proxy server does not persist transcript data to any database. Your local Chrome storage data is protected by Chrome's built-in sandboxing and is not accessible to other extensions or websites.

8. Your Rights

• Access & deletion — you can clear all locally stored data (prompts, history, user ID) by uninstalling the extension or using the "Clear" button. To request deletion of your anonymous server-side usage record, email nswaby64@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request".
• Opt out — simply uninstalling the extension stops all data collection immediately.
• EU/EEA residents — you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and objection. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.
• California residents — under CCPA you have the right to know what personal data we collect and to request its deletion. We do not sell personal data.

9. Children's Privacy

Prompt Harvest is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Chrome Permissions Justification

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
